Operational since January 1, 2018, COSEF, Consortium for Economic Development of Friuli, is available to companies that have chosen to settle and expand in the four most important industrial areas of the province of Udine.
Resulting from the merger of the Consortium for Industrial Development of Central Friuli Area and the Consortium for Industrial Development of Alto Friuli Area, COSEF directly manages the industrial areas of Ziu (Udine) and the industrial site of Osoppo, Gemona, and Buia, and intends to extend its technical, administrative and maintenance services to the industrial areas of Aussa Corno and Cividalese. The Consortium represents the axis of industry in Friuli. It embodies the public economic entity wanted by the Region and implemented through the law "Rilancimpresa FVG - Riforma delle politiche industriali," dating back to 2015, designed to give strength and impetus to the local consortia.
Covering more than 18 million square meters of land, with 306 companies based in the area and almost 9,000 employees, COSEF favors all the opportunities to create and develop companies and ensures the effective and economically sustainable exercise of functions and services.
The strategic asset for COSEF is the attractiveness of the "territorial system," and a factor that unites the four macro-areas that are part of it is undoubtedly the road infrastructure system: the objective is to create a single large logistics area in the province of Udine. Road, rail, and port infrastructure systems annexed to each area represent a propulsive thrust to growth and development for companies.
Each area has a direct connection with the different road systems: railway, road transport, and, in the case of the Aussa-Corno area, the outlet to the sea through the commercial port of Porto Magreth. COSEF is working to enhance Porto Nogaro and make it the regular destination of the big merchant ships, with consequent positive effects for the companies based in its areas.

With the coming into force of the new regional law Rilancimpresa, COSEF has redesigned its structure, providing that it would be made up of public entities and category associations.
